I am really looking forward to seeing you today at 11.00 and 1.00 on Zoom. We will be doing Science in our first Zoom and SPaG/GPS in our second and going through any questions about the learning in the second.

Use your toolkit to help you in what you need to include there is a template of a story mountain at the bottom of the page. 

Make sure you are writing in note form like bullet points as this is the plan to help you write it!

You have 15 minutes to complete your sheet, take your time and think carefully. Don't forget about your presentation!

Our topic in science is called Animals Including Humans.

Today we are looking at how do living things get their food?

 

All living things need food, this allows them to grow and gives them energy. 

 

Some questions to think about?

What kinds of diets should humans be having? 

What would happen if humans did not eat or had no food?

Does a pencil need food and why?

How does a plant get it's food? Have you ever seen a plant eat?

 

Your task is to imagine that animals were like plants – i.e. they could make their own food. Think about how animals could take in gases (carbon dioxide), and how they could take in water without drinking.  

 

Then create your own superhero child that is able to make their food in this way. They could then list the ways in which this would help the being to survive, as well as the threats that it might face to its survival.

Don't forget to label your superhero. 

 

Group Activities

Red Group- Can you label with a description of the function of each part of you superhero using full sentences. 

Yellow Group- Can you include roots and explain their purpose and function in your superhero.

Green Group- Can you include how your superhero will use water. 

Blue Group- Can you create a new organ that helps with producing your superhero's own food.

Purple Group- Can you include a way your superhero can get sunlight and use it to make energy.

Have fun with it, I will put one out every Wednesday for the next two weeks.
