Hinduism Day in the Elves Class
We learnt about a special Samskara called ‘Namkarana’ – this is the name of a special naming ceremony for a baby. It is similar to a Baptism because a Hindu baby is blessed with holy water.
We found out that sometimes a Hindu priest would help name the baby at the ceremony by using their star sign. We found out what star sign we are based on when we were born. We decorated our star sign symbols. We chose to use bright colours for our drawings like the brightly coloured Hindu celebrations. Look at some of our beautiful work below:
Take a look at the photos from our Diwali feast that we shared with the Pixies. We all had the opportunity to try some delicious foods: vegetable samosas, onion bhajis, mango chutney and popadoms. It was great fun!
