What is the Eco Council?

What is Eco-Schools?

Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet.

Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the simple Seven-Step framework in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag award, for some years.

Our Eco-Schools Council

We have set up our Eco-School Council, which includes children from every class from Year 1 to Year 6.  The children on the Eco Council all care about the environment and so we have a vast array of children in different year groups.  The older children work with the younger children and we all discuss what our school is really good at and there are many items in this category (not many schools have fire pits, raised beds, school pets and prayer gardens), and what we can do to help to make our school even more eco friendly.  We meet each week to discuss our way forward and the improvements we can make.

These are our focus areas:

Biodiversity

Energy

Global Citizenship

Healthy Living

Litter

Marine

School Grounds

Transport

Waste
