Well done!

Well done to those children who had a special mention in yesterday's KS2 Celebration assembly.  This week those with a special mention were:

Lottie, Olivia, Eleanor and Marley! - Well Done!

Well done to everyone else too - you have shown real strength during the lockdown and home-schooling period, well done!

Reflection

The theme for this week's Reflection is Strength

“The Lord is my strength and my shield.

In him my heart trusts.”

                                                          Psalm 28:7

When have we needed God's help and the help of those around us to feel strong?  What has happened that made us feel a bit weak and in need of strength?  There are always going to be times when things are a bit tough, when we find some things a bit harder than others and when we need strength to get us through and to help us to cope.

In today's reflection let's think about how God will help us whenever we come across new challenges - sometimes new challenges can feel like mountains but by keeping faith and through God's love and support we can keep going and be strong.

English - SPAG: Expanded Noun Phrases

Step 3 - Writing Concise Noun Phrases

Continuing with the same unit that we worked on at the end of last term for SPAG - today we move to Step 3 in the Expanded Noun Phrases unit and learn to 'Write Concise Noun Phrases'.

Below you will find a PowerPoint to work through (also in PDF format) and questions to work through.  Remember to choose either 'a' or 'b' questions and use the answers to mark your work afterwards.

Science - Forces

Explain that unsupported objects fall towards Earth because of

the force of GRAVITY

This term our Science topic is Forces.  We will be learning about forces such as Gravity, Air Resistance, Water Resistance and Friction.  We will also learn that some mechanisms including levers, pulleys and gears allow a small force to have a greater effect.

I wonder if you think this Science unit fits in with our Class book - Alex Rider, Stormbreaker.  Perhaps Spy Gadgets have levers and maybe gears too!

In today's lesson you will learn how unsupported objects fall towards Earth because of the force of GRAVITY.  Gravity acts between the Earth and the falling object.

So who first discovered the force of Gravity?  Click on the link below to find out!

So we have learnt about Sir Isaac Newton and how he first discovered Gravity, we also found out there about G-Force and Friction.

In this next clip you will see a Professional Stunt Artist falling from different heights  - this video gives an introduction to gravity showing how it makes objects speed up or accelerate as they fall. The higher the jump the longer the person is in the air, so there is more time for gravity to speed up the fall.

* IMPORTANT -  JUMPING FROM HEIGHTS IS DANGEROUS.  NEVER ATTEMPT ANY JUMPS FROM ANY HEIGHTS WITHOUT PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT.  REMEMBER THIS VIDEO SHOWS A PROFESSIONAL STUNT ARTIST. *
