Daily Reflection: Our daily focus is 'Strength'

As you listen to the song, think about how you have had to show strength recently.....maybe you have found it hard not being at school, maybe you have needed strength to keep doing your school work:

"It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure." 2 Samuel 22:33

Good Morning Imps,

Did you know...Africa is called a continent and it has 54 countries in it....one of them being Madagascar!! Have you seen the Madagascar film?

Start of the day:

Listen to our good morning song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuI_p7a9VGs&list=PLb94l5o_Ywbo325ELIM_ZqDq7D2aitJgg

Handwriting:

Listen to our crocodile snap song using the following link and get those hands ready:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kPcQSSsEY&t=6s

Today we are going to have a go at writing the letter i and you can use the following link to help you with writing this letter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tajrr2fSFow

Have a try at writing this letter in the air using your wands or sticks that you use for phonics or use some ribbon. Then try writing this letter on some paper, remembering your pencil grip…our crocodile fingers. When writing this letter, don’t forget to do the dot above.

Reading:

Do you have any story books that tell a story set in a different country? If you do, have a look through them, especially at the pictures. What do you notice is different to where we live? Is anything the same? See if you can find any tricky words in your story book. Write these tricky words down. If you don’t have any story books that are set in a different country, don’t worry and just choose one of your picture books from your shelf. Happy Reading.

English:

Think about the front cover from our book yesterday. Today we are going to share the story during our zoom lesson. If you are not attending the zoom lesson, you can use the following link to hear the story being read with pictures to show you the events:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyIV_xYi0as

Think about your favourite part of the story and draw a picture of this. Why is this part your favourite? What did you enjoy about this part?

Maths:

Today we are continuing to think about creating patterns. Yesterday you created patterns using two different fruits and today we are going to see if we can create some patterns using three or four African fruits. Use your pictures from the previous day or you will find some more fruit pictures in the resources and see if you can create a trickier pattern e.g., apple, apple, banana, mango, apple, apple, banana, mango. Can you find anything at home, maybe some blocks, to create some more repeating patterns?

Phonics:

Revise all of your phase 2 sounds and the phase 3 sounds that we have learnt so far (j, v, w and z, x, y, qu, ch, th, sh, ng, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar and ai). Today we are going to think about the ai sound again to make sure we are secure with this sound. Can you think of any words with the ai sound in? Try writing these words and don’t forget to use your robot arms to help you. Think about the sound buttons you will need. Use the following link to play the phonics game: https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/3/buried-treasure  When you play the game, choose phase 3 and then the ai sound. Decide which words are alien words and which ones are real words.

Afternoon activity:

This afternoon use some things that you can find around the house or out of the recycling bin to do some junk modelling. See if you can make your very own basket just like Handa’s basket that she puts the fruit inside. You could paint your basket or decorate with different materials you have at home.
