Daily Reflection: Our focus this week is 'Courage'

Watch the video clip and listen to the music, think about about the words and how sometimes we have to be brave and go the distance just like Hercules!!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgnHF2CwrPs&t=37s

Take a moment to think about this very special man who passed away yesterday..Sir Captain Tom Moore. He was so brave and gave us so much hope! He was an inspiration to us all.

"Be of good courage and let us be courageous for our people." 2 Samuel 10-12

Imps,

Did you know......

Start of the day:

Listen to our good morning song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuI_p7a9VGs&list=PLb94l5o_Ywbo325ELIM_ZqDq7D2aitJgg

Fine Motor Skills:

Listen to our crocodile snap song using the following link and get those hands ready:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kPcQSSsEY&t=6s

Use any items you have at home to build a tower. You could use lego bricks, boxes, books etc. How tall can you make your tower without it falling over? Take your time when putting one brick on top of the other and be really gentle too!! When your tower topples over, see if you can make an even taller one than before.

Reading:

Find a nice quiet spot today to read your book. Really try hard to find some of our tricky words in your book and see if you can recognise them. Also, can you spot any of the digraphs that we have learnt from phase 3 so far e.g. ch, igh, qu etc. If you see any, try and use your phonic skills to sound the words out. Did you spot any?

English:

Have a look again at all the aliens from our book. Some pictures of the aliens can be found in the resources. Which alien is your favourite? Can you explain why you like this alien the best? Draw a picture of your alien and then write a sentence to tell us something special about your alien. You can make it up if you like! Remember your finger space and full stops! I can’t wait to read your sentence about your alien.

Maths:

Listen to the 3d shape song to remind you of our 3d shapes that we have learnt:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnZYK83utu0

Have a look at your space robot that you made yesterday. Can you name all of the 3d shapes you have used? Have a look in the resources where you will find an ‘I spy 3d shapes’ sheet. See if you can count all the different 3d shapes. How many spheres can you find? You can either look at the sheet on the page or you can print it off.

Phonics:

Revise all of your phase 2 sounds and the phase 3 sounds that we have learnt so far (j, v, w and z, x, y, qu, ch, th, sh, ng, ee and ai). Today we are moving on to the sound ‘igh’ and you can hear this sound using the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYCR2RZ4ZYY

Can you have a try at sounding out and writing these words: night, light, bright, sight, fright? Remember to use your robot arms and your sound buttons to help you.  Use the following link to have a go at the space phonics game:

https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/picnic-on-pluto

Afternoon activity:

Make a space telescope so you can keep an eye on what those aliens from our story are up to! You can use your telescope to make sure they are not stealing anyone more underpants!! You could any cylinder shape object you can find e.g., an old pringle tub, the inside of a kitchen roll, a toilet roll holder or you could use some cardboard to fold to make your own cylinder shape. Decorate your space telescope with any materials you have at home. You might even be able to use your telescope to see some stars at night time.
