Reflection

Kindness

“Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:32

Sit quietly for a few minutes and listen to some calming music.  Think about kindness and what it means.  You can think of a prayer to say with your grown up

English

Learning Objective: I can use my sounds to write.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8-tnU8S9Bk

Discuss how Paddington went to Buckingham Palace.  Go back through the video and pause to look closely at the pictures. Ask the children to plan what Paddington could write on a postcard to aunt Lucy about his visit.  You are going to write the post card tomorrow so today note down some highlights that you think Paddington would want to tell his great aunt about.

Phonics

For the rest of this week I am providing links to phonics videos which will allow the children to recap some sounds that they recognise.  Next week we will have our phonics sessions over Zoom.  Have a look at this one today:

Maths

Learning Objective: I can recognise and name geometric shapes.

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/week-10-geometry-shape/

Hopefully yesterday you will have completed the shape worksheet.  Today can you work through the second video and pause when the questions are asked?  Then you could search around the house for some objects of different shapes and work out what is the same and what is different?

History

Buckingham Palace and the Queen

Learning Objective: I can talk about significant individuals who influence national life.

Find out all about our monarch and where she lives.  Make links to the Paddington story and how the palace is a famous landmark in London.  Can you interview a grown-up or an older sibling, who is pretending to be the Queen and write down what he or she tells you?
