Daily Reflection: Our focus this week is 'Understanding'

Imps, understand that it is ok to sometimes have a wobble or a sad day, everyone does! As you listen to the music, remember that the rainbows will appear again soon and just like in your assembly, cling on to those hopes and dreams of yours:

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Proverbs 9:10

Hello Imps,

We have nearly made it to the end of the week, great job! Mrs Crompton, Mrs Green, Mrs Phelps and I, well we are all super proud of how hard you are working and all the wonderful things you are achieving!

Start of the day:

Listen to our good morning song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuI_p7a9VGs&list=PLb94l5o_Ywbo325ELIM_ZqDq7D2aitJgg

Fine Motor Skills:

Listen to our crocodile snap song using the following link and get those hands ready:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kPcQSSsEY&t=6s

If you have some cake cases or even a cupcake tin (used for baking) you can use today, that would be wonderful. Use a peg or some prongs if you have some in the kitchen to pick up some objects e.g., pasta shapes, buttons, pom poms, beads, cheerio cereal, small dinosaurs etc and carefully place them in the cases or tin. Take your time and build up those hand muscles.

Reading:

Choose a book that you would like to read and share with your favourite soft toy. You can look at the pictures in your book and create your very own story. Can you read your story using different voices? Maybe you could ask your favourite soft toy some questions about the story to see if they were listening, I hope they were!

English:

Have a look at your planet pictures and sentence from the previous day’s learning. Read through your sentence and today we are going to think about how we can make our sentence longer by using the word ‘and’ then include another describing word, e.g., the sun is hot and big. When writing your sentence remember a full stop to finish your sentence and finger spaces between each word. You can do it!

Maths:

Have a look at the 2d shapes video/song to remind you of the shape names:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElQoMOCJw8w

Can you cut some 2d shapes out of paper and use them to create a shape alien? Try really hard to only use the shapes we have learnt. I can’t wait to see everyone’s alien. Will you use square or circle eyes? Will you use a rectangle or a square body?

Phonics:

Revise all of your phase 2 sounds and the phase 3 sounds that we have learnt so far: j, v, w and z, x, y, qu, ch, th and sh.

We are going to be thinking about a new sound today ‘ng’ and you can use the video using the following link to hear this sound:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQshNmncnBs  and this sound is found at the end of words. In the resources you will find a ‘ng’ read and roll game that you may want to print and play, or you can play the phonics game using the following link:

https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/picnic-on-pluto

In this game you have to think about and decide which words are real words and which words are alien words.

Afternoon activity:

If you can use the playdough recipe found in the resources or in the extra activities tab to make your very own playdough. You could always add some stars or glitter and use a dark colour to make it into space playdough. You can use your playdough to then help with your fine motor skills, to play with or in phonics.
