We have been working so hard on our letter formation, this week we are going to think about building up those muscles in our hands. Take a piece of paper and on it draw some zig zag lines going from one end to the other. Or you can use the zig zag lines found in the resources. Ask your adult if you can use some scissors (supervised) to cut along the zig zag lines. Be really careful and try and keep to the lines. 

Reading:

Read for ten minutes today, choosing either your book form school or a book form home. Do you have any books with a winter theme as it is very cold outside? Don’t forget to look at the extra resources page for some reading online activities and game. 

English:

Today we are thinking about describing words. Have a look at the space pictures in the resources and see if you can describe some of the things you can see. Try and make sure you put your describing words into a sentence when saying them out loud. Please can you make your own space picture today and try and include all things space like. Also make sure you picture has lots of colour. When you have finished, keep your pictures safe as we will be using them in tomorrow’s lesson. 

Maths:

This week we are thinking about 2d shapes. Do you know any shapes? Have a look at the shape posters found in the resources, these will help you with the shape names. Can you make a space rocket using the 2d shapes we have learnt today? Remember the rocket needs to be flat and only made with 2d shapes. There are some 2d shapes in the resources that you may want to use, or you can ask your adult to cut some out for you.

Revise all of your phase 2 sounds and the phase 3 sounds j, v, w and z, x and y, qu.

Afternoon activity:

Create a beautiful colourful space picture using lots of different coloured paint and kitchen roll. Place some kitchen roll on a tray and use paints or felt tip pens to create a space picture. Watch the colours spread and blend into each other.
