Daily Reflection: Our focus this week is 'Courage'

As you listen to the music, think about a time when you have had to have courage and how you felt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjF9IqvXDjY

"You are loved beyond measure." Romans 8:38-39

Lovely Imps,

I hope that you had a good rest over the weekend. We are now on week five of our six week term, so nearly there. I cannot believe how you have all managed with this new way of learning......you have been incredible!

Start of the day:

Listen to our good morning song:

Fine Motor Skills:

Listen to our crocodile snap song using the following link and get those hands ready:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kPcQSSsEY&t=6s

Ask your adult if you can use a colander from the kitchen. Use this to carefully thread either some spaghetti strips or pipe cleaners through the holes. If you don’t have either of those then you can use some wool or string to push through the holes. It can be really tricky so try not to give up! You can do it.

Reading:

Spend some time today reading your chosen book. Keep a look out for those tricky words and if you find one try to remember what it is! Use the reading bookmark found in the resources to help you understand your book. The bookmark gives ideas to think about before you read the book, during reading the book and at the end of the book. Maybe your adult could ask you some of the questions on the bookmark.

English:

This week we are looking at a new book called ‘Aliens love underpants.’ Today we are going to read the story and think about the different events. Listen in our zoom lesson to the story being read and then think about what happens and when. Use the template found in resources or create your own and retell the story. What happened at the beginning? What happened in the middle? What happened at the end? Draw lots of pictures and write key words.

Maths:

This week we are thinking about 3d shapes. Do you know how 3d shapes are different to the 2d shapes we were learning about last week? Look at the 3d shape mat found in the resources, do you know any of their names? Use the 3d shape mat to go on a shape hunt around the house. See if you can find an everyday object for each 3d shape on your mat. Take a picture of all your finds and ask your adult to send it to me.

Phonics:

Revise all of your phase 2 sounds and the phase 3 sounds that we have learnt so far (j, v, w and z, x, y, qu, ch, th, sh and ng). You can use your phase 2 and 3 sound mats that we included in your home packs. If you can’t find them, I have added them to the resources again. Today we are thinking about a new diagraph 'ai' which you can hear using the following video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnXaN-CvR9s. Complete the ai activity sheet found in the resources, matching the pictures to the correct words.

Afternoon activity:

For this science activity you will need: baking soda, food colouring, water and vinegar.

Look at the planets mat found in the resources and talk about the different sizes and colours of each one. Choose which planet you would like to create in your science experiment this afternoon. Mix a cup of baking soda with 1/4 cup of water. choice of food colouring to the mixture. Pat the paste together to form a planet shape.  If it is too runny, add some more baking soda. If it is crumbly, add some more water. When you are happy with your planet, place it on a plate and add a drop of vinegar and watch the planet fizz!!!!
