Scientists are able to classify living things through close observation. Details are very important!

Firstly I would like you to look at some of the art works by artist Levon Bliss http://microsculpture.net/ this is a short 5 minute video explaining what he does!

Also have a look at the attached Science Powerpoint

I would like you to have a go at an observational drawing of a living thing. You may need to use a grown ups phone with permission to take a close picture- most mobile cameras are good enough to zoom in and see the tiny details! If you cannot find a living thing you may use one of the photos attached in the powerpoint or from the link.

What classification of animal is it? How do you know?
