Learning Objective:  Links sounds to letters, when segmenting and blending cvc words.

 Draw or write your own version of “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly”.  Change the character.  Change the creatures swallowed.  Write some labels using your phonics.



Practise saying single letter sounds (phonemes) in sets:

3. g   o   c   k

4. e   u   r  y

5. h   b   f   l

6. j   v   w   x

Write each of these letters on sticky notes or squares of paper that can be moved around. Practise blending single letters (graphemes) to read simple words, using the letters in each set above. Use Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 letters (graphemes) – how many words can you make with just these letters?  How many words can you build and blend now? See if you can beat your score. 



Learning Objective: Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.


Find some stones, leaves or sticks and place them in groups.  Count each group making sure you point to each object as you count.

Try adding one from object from a different group to another group and say how many objects you have now.

Take an object away from a group and find out how many are left.


Physical Development

Learning Objective: Knows the importance of good health and physical exercise, and a healthy diet, and talks about ways to keep healthy and safe.


Create some kind of obstacle course inside or outside, include some balancing challenges and parts to go in and out, over and under.

Talk to a grown up about why it is important to do some exercise every day.

Perhaps a grown up could film you completing your obstacle course.
