Tuesday Home Learning – Pixies Class

 

Hello Pixies, 

Helping others and encouraging others are often acts of kindness that have more meaning than you will ever know! 

 

English:

Reading

-Think about the tricky words: some, come, were, there, so and people. Choose a book and see if you can spot any of these tricky words.

-Read your chosen book for at least 10 minutes. 

-Read the sentences found in resources that include these tricky words. 

 

Writing

-Have a look at the facts you found/knew about the whale and snail from the previous day. 

-Is there something you would like to find out about the snail and is there is something you would like to find out about the whale?

-Use the question words (who, what, where, why, how) to think of two questions that you would like to ask/find out about for each animal. Write the sentences down. Don’t forget to use question marks at the end of you questions!

-If you have time, see if you can find the answer to these questions. 

 

Phonics:

-Recap on the split diagraph from yesterday, i_e.

-Today we are looking at another split diagraph, o_e. can you say this sound? Use the following link to help you.

-Can you spell the words hope, woke, joke, spoke, bone, home? Ask a grown up to test you on these words. 

-Use the following link to play Phonics Dinosaur eggs, choosing o_e. Have fun!

 

Maths:

-Can you remember the coins from yesterday? Have a look again if you have any coins at home and try to identify them. 

-We are now thinking about recognising notes. Watch the following link to help you begin to recognise notes.

-Complete the recognising notes worksheets found in resources. 

-If you have any pretend money at home maybe you could set up a little pretend shop!

 

RE:

-We have been thinking about how we can love our neighbours and one way we can do this is by buying fair trade goods from the supermarket when we can. Do you know what fair trade products are? See the pictures found in resources. 

-Look at the fair trademark on the pictures. Next time you go to the supermarket, see if you can spot any Fairtrade goods. 

-Read the story found in the PowerPoint in resources called Maria’s story. 

-Design a poster that can be displayed, encouraging people to think about buying Fairtrade products. Remember your poster needs to be bright and grab the readers attention. Include lots of pictures and some facts.
