Tuesday Home Learning – Pixies Class
Good Morning Pixies,
We hope that you have had a wonderful half term holidays and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. Thank you so much to everyone that has helped with our 500 mile walking challenge for charity. You are absolutely amazing and have helped raise so much money for charity. You should feel so proud of yourselves.
Keep walking though as we still have two weeks left and lots of miles to cover.
-Find a book that you can read for at least 10 minutes. Find a quiet space to read.
-if you find any words that are unfamiliar or you are not sure about the meaning, write them down and ask someone in your house to help.
-Can you read through the tricky words found in the resources?
-We are now beginning our new topic the ‘Seaside’ and so will be reading the book ‘The Snail and the Whale’ over the next few weeks.
-Look at the front cover of the book and talk out loud about everything you can see. Look really carefully!
-Children to then write down their ideas around the picture, writing about everything they see and any questions they could ask. You can use the template below or you can create your own.
-Can you draw or paint your very own front cover for ‘The Snail and the Whale’ book?
-Think about the sound ay. Can you recognise this phoneme and can you write it?
-Can you think of some words with this sound e.g. spray, play etc.
-Play buried treasure, choosing the ay sound.
-Write some sentences that contain some of the ay words used today.
-In Maths this week we are thinking about counting form 0-100! Can you count from zero to one hundred?
-Use the following link to help you count to 100.
-Use the hundred square found in resources to help you count to 100. You could display this in your house to help you.
-Ask your adult to quiz you on numbers in the hundred square, asking you to tell them what each number is or how do we write…….?
-Complete the counting in 100 worksheet found in the resources.
-Have a little think about a special place that you have visited, walked past etc. Why is this place special to you?
-There are many special places in our world that God has given to us, in fact the world is a very special place.
-Can you paint a picture of our special world or create a model of the world? You could create your model out of anything you can find at home. You could even bake a cake of the world!
-Have a little look at the following link, showing some pictures of God’s beautiful world.
-Don’t forget to send any pictures of your worlds.
