*Do not let the sun go down on your anger.”
Learning Objective: To sequence a story or rhyme.
Watch the video of “There was an old Lady who Swallowed a Fly”
Draw a cirlcle to represent the old lady’s stomach and draw every creature she eats inside it. Use your phonics to write some labels next to each creature. Number each creature from 1 to 8 in to show the order that they were eaten in.
Practise saying single letter sounds (phonemes) in sets:
1. s a t p
2. i n m d
3. g o c k
4. e u r y
5. h b f l
6. j v w x
Write each of these letters on sticky notes or squares of paper that can be moved around. Practise blending single letters (graphemes) to read simple words, using the letters in each set above. Use Set 1, and Set 2 letters (graphemes) – how many words can you make with just these letters? How many words can you build and blend now? See if you can beat your score.
Learning Objective: Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.
Have some number cards (you can make your own) from 1 to 20.
Play “pick a number” and count out that many objects.
Get someone else to pick another number and count out that many.
Who has more and who has less?
How many more or less do they have?
Expressive Art and Design
Learning Objective: Talks about ideas and processes which have led them to make music, designs, images or products. Can talk about features of their own and others work, recognising the differences between them and the strength of others.
Think about the King of Tiny Things figure that you made on Monday. Look at the images/illustrations from the book. You can see them in Mrs Huotari’s story or use the image below. You may even have the book!
