Jesus had friends, we can be friends of Jesus.


Making friends and being a friend

Provide time for the children to share the joys and challenges of being a friend.  During prayer times, invite the children to talk to Jesus, their friend, in their own words.


Look at a picture of Jesus with his friends.

  1. How do we know they are friends?
  2. What does the picture tell us about friends?
  3. Where do you go when you are tired?
  4. Who do you talk to about your experiences of the day?  e.g. what has gone well/what has not.
  5. Where do you go to be quiet and still?


Discuss friendship words.

Draw a picture of your friend.

Write friendship words all around it.



Remind children of phoneme w.

Play Quickwrite Graphemes.

Sing the alphabet song.

Flashcards: Speed Trial, Flashcards: Time Challenge.

Practise Play Quickwrite. Words: will, win, wag, web, wig, wax, jam, jog, van, vet.

Apply Play Yes/No questions– get children to use thumbs up and thumbs down to show whether the answer is yes or no.

Is the sun wet?

Can men jog to get fit?

Has a pot of jam got a lid?

Can a van go up a hill?

Has a cat got a web?

Will a pig put on a wig?



Learning Objective: Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.


Play “Show me the number” –

Children to set out a number line from 1 to 10 with Numicon or using numerals.

Adult gives clues to a number e.g. “It is bigger than 6 but smaller than 8.”

Children to hold up the number they think it is.

Children to have a go at asking a “show me the number” question.


Physical Development

Learning Objective: Knows the importance of good health and physical exercise, and a healthy diet, and talks about ways to keep healthy and safe.


Using the boy and girl picture PDFs, children to cut out the food and place the healthy food in the tummy.


Discuss how a healthy diet helps the body and how exercise keeps us healthy.

Engage in some form of exercise in an outdoor area – skipping, throwing and catching, football.
