Monday Home Learning – Pixies Class


Morning Pixies,  

We hope that you have had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the week ahead.   

Just think…… today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow that you want! 




-Find a quiet, calm space to read a book for at least ten minutes. 

-When you have read your book, draw or paint a picture of your favourite page.  

-Think about why this is your favourite page? Did it make you laugh? Did it use interesting words? Did it have a picture that you liked? 

-Read the sentences found in resources, can you underline any tricky words? There is also a tricky word list in resources to remind you of what they are. 



-Read the following sentence out loud and talk about what you think this means? 

‘Nori lived with his dad and six cats by the sea.’

-Close your eyes and get your adult to read the sentence out loud to you again. Try and picture what you think the sentence is saying. What do you see in your mind?

-Using pencils, chalk, paints (whatever you would like and have at home) draw what you picture when the sentence is read out. 

-Think of some key words that come to your mind from the sentence and the picture and write these down. 



-We are thinking about the grapheme ‘i’ and how we can pronounce this in different ways depending on the words. For example, in some words like tin, the ‘i’ is pronounced ‘i’ and in words like remind, the ‘i’ is pronounced ‘igh’ 

- Use the following link to play the game Look, Cover, Write and Check. When you play the game, choose year one, tricky words, tricky words one. The game helps you to spell those tricky words. Look at the tricky word you are shown, try to remember it and then type it out! 



-This week we are thinking about time and today we are thinking about the words before and after. Do you know what these words mean? 

-Have a look at the before and after power point and see if you can work through the little challenges.  

-Can you draw something you did or are going to do before lunch? Can you draw something you did after brushing your teeth this morning? 

-Complete the before and after worksheets found in the resources.  

-See if you can use the words before and after today in some sentences.  



-Today we are thinking about family. Who is in your family? 

-Create a collage, drawing or painting of your family. You can include as many people as you like and you can also include your pets as they are part of your family too.  

-Send us a photograph of your creations, we would love to see them. 

-If you have time, maybe you could look through some pictures of your family. Have you seen any pictures of when you were a baby? Have you seen any pictures of when your adults were little?
