Art
This term we are going to be exploring
pointillism
a technique of painting where small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image. Watch the video below to find out a bit more about the artist who came up with this idea for painting 🖼
Look at these examples of pointillism. What do you like about them? Which one is your favourite and why?

Now have a go yourself! Get a plain piece of paper, something you can “dot” paint with (a cotton bud, the end of a paintbrush or pen) and some paints. Experiment with dotting colour. If you haven’t got paints, have a go with felt tip pens, being careful not to damage the nibs of your pens.
Have a go at dotting:
💛a heart shape
🅱️ the initial of your name
〰️ a wavy or zig zag line
🌀 a spiral
🌸 a flower
Now try your own ideas!
Reading
Follow the link below and join in with this read aloud book:
Phonics
Now that you've warmed up with our alphabet song we are going to have another practise of the "ie" sound we looked at yesterday.
Print off the ie workbook and work through it. If you haven't got a printer, have a little look and see if you can adapt this slightly. Alternatively here is a game to play:
Spellings
Check the Year 1 spellings list below. Choose six to practise spelling today. Have a go at writing them in rainbow colours. Can you write them in bubble writing? If you already know how to spell them, use them in a sentence and write this down!
Well done for all your hard work this week Pixies. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Love from Mrs Jukes, Mrs Mackell and Mrs Welsh xxx
