Friday 15th

Good Morning

Hi everyone, it is the end of the week! Now only one week till our half term and a very welcome break for all. It was really good to talk some of you and parents yesterday. If you want to talk to me about any of the learning set, any challenges you are facing with home learning, any ideas for learning or if you need support with anything at all please do not hesitate to email me and I will reply to you as quickly as I can. I will be available all day on my laptop Monday to work with anyone on a one to one basis. While on the subject of challenges and learning, I just wanted to say that what is set is only my idea for learning. I encourage you, if you wish, to adapt and tailor my ideas to the needs of your child. Also please remember that there is no compulsory requirement to complete all/some of the tasks. Please put your child and your own wellbeing and mental health first.



Take time to just sit and be still. Make everything as quiet as you can and just enjoy being calm.



Guided Reading – I would like you to just share and enjoy chapter 4 together. Anyone can read it to anyone else. Just enjoy the story and chapter together.

SPAG and Big Write – Today is the day for writing our letters to Mrs Huotari. You can set them out however you wish, just remember you need to write to Mrs Houtari and ask her to install a hedgehog crossing on the road up to school. You should write in a formal manner, a posh voice. You can challenge your writing by including some contractions and a possessive apostrophe. Below there is a checklist of features you may include, a word mat with some useful words and an example showing the features.



Arithmetic – We are going to go back and recap a skill we haven’t looked at in a while, our number bonds to 10. A number bond to 10 is 2 numbers that add to make ten. These are 0+10, 1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5, 6+4, 7+3, 8+2, 9+1 and 10+0. I want you to play a game and you need a ball. You say a number to a partner then throw the ball. The catcher has to say the number that makes the number bond to 10.

Play and explore – To finish our position and direction part of learning, I have something for you to play with today. It is a beebot game. We used this in computing a while ago. You need to use your knowledge of forward, backward, left and right to move beebot around. Set each other challenges of getting to squares or places. There are a range of different boards you can use to play on. Have fun and enjoy playing on the website.


Music – Nick Cope has created and sung a song about a Hedgehog called Hugh who tries to cross a road. Have a listen, what images come to mind. How would you dance to this, what could you do? Have a go at creating some actions or a dance to follow along with Nick as he sings.
